Hello, Jamie and Annie here!
We are excited that you want to get to know us and thank you for checking out our blog!
Anti-Artificialist is a space dedicated to honest objective resourcing about food quality, how it’s grown and the inconsistencies of the food industry.
Our passion…is to eat quality food, to be our healthiest, and to share what we know.
Our goal…is to create an awareness about the ingredients in our food and to shine light on businesses and inspiring people that are increasingly conscious about the food they provide to their costumers and families.
We refer to them as the “Do-ers!”
We encourage you to make your own decisions and decide what works best for you. 🙂
Here’s a little bit about us…
Jamie and I were born and raised in Illinois, and moved to California together in 1996. We come from a large family and food was at the center of everything. So many lovely memories of chili cook offs, the annual sauerkraut canning party, our Dad’s fresh bake breads, our Mom’s famous pickle recipe and celebration after celebration that always involved the making of delicious home made food.
Our parents cooked from scratch and we have carried on that wholesome tradition with our families. Cooking from a box is not our style. Once you start understanding the ingredients in that box you will not want to eat it either. Yuck!
Hi, it’s Jamie! My passion for wellness runs deep. Starting at the age of two when I began my classical dance training, through out my years of teaching dance and fitness instruction, to my current career in holistic health. I’m an independent business women, an eternal optimist, and my number one indulgence is reading a great book.
I love dancing, cooking and eating meals with friends and family. I’m an urban dweller and I love walking through my city. Wether it’s at the beach, along the harbor or deep in the lively part of downtown. Saturday mornings you can find me at my local farmers market, stocking up on green juice and avocados or whatever is looking good and in season.
Through my curiosity and enthusiastic perspective, I will offer insight, resources and methods to optimize the health and well being of you and your families lives.
I invite you to join my sister and I to read every food label and ingredients list, understand what those ingredients are and know more about what’s in your food.
Now meet my little sister, Annie…
Hi! I’m Annie, the baby of the family!
“Is it Annie or Anna?” Either one – I respond and like to hear both!
I have spent 25+ years in the restaurant business, including 6 years of ownership. My interests are food quality, dining etiquette, proper service, entertaining and most importantly natural, scratch made, wholesome foods. Favorite memories of mine while owning a restaurant were the creating and tasting of the recipes, plus the food styling and photography. I get to do all that with this blog and I am so excited!
I married a Southern California surfer guy, and together we are raising our twin boys in a small beach town in San Diego. My greatest joy is being a mom and my beautiful family is why I strive for the healthiest lifestyle.
Sharing the importance of real food is my kind of fun, while learning with all of you which foods are best for us and which foods to avoid. We can make some serious positive change for ourselves, for our family and for our community.
Jamie is my BFF together we laugh until we cry. She is always inspiring me with her holistic approach to life and her encyclopedia knowledge. Together we are super powers of health.
Cheers to being an Anti-Artificialist and let’s strive for a Life Unprocessed!
